The move away from a website to a newsletter means no more ads getting in your way, no more editors telling me what to write, and more control over the whole process. However, the removal of ads means the removal of money to allow me to write for a living, so there will be a paid subscription portion of the site. The contest will remain free (at least for now as long as I continue to get sponsors for it), and select content will be sent out to all subscribers, but the majority of the good stuff will be behind a paywall.
